Carbon copy aftertaste
The taste of lips so delicate
Stop the click and watch the room
Sitting pretty in full bloom
Your stain on my fingers
Like a headache that the pills won't kill
Your stain on my fingers
Like a headache that the pills won't kill
Hold your breath this is the part
That I've been waiting for
Words spill out in front of you
On your bedroom floor
Your stain on my fingers
Like a headache that the pills won't kill
Your stain on my fingers
Like a headache that the pills won't kill
I sat beneath the burning tree
I never gave my world away
Maybe I should, maybe I could
I sat beneath the burning tree
I never gave my world away
Maybe I should, maybe I could
I never gave my world away
Maybe I should, maybe I could
I never gave my world away
Maybe I should, maybe I would
I never gave my world away
Maybe I should, maybe I could
I sat beneath the burning tree
I never gave my world away
Maybe I should, maybe I could
I sat beneath the burning tree
The burning tree, the burning tree

first comment!!!!This song is about how a guy gets dependant in a relationship that isn´t working, thats why they refuge through sex, and after that he feels like he just stained his hands by the way they are both acting. He is seeking for protection, but the girl is more of a treat in reality. And the lines "I never gave my world away (maybe I should, maybe I could)" means that he wants to leave her and go on with his live, searching for the true love. hehe got a little corny, but I really think is about that.

On the DVD i belive Matt says that this song is about the loss of sight of the romance and beauty of sex. It's kind of saying the way that people use sex to manipulate and control is wrong- such as in the advertising world, where it is a well known thing that "sex sells"....Which in turn, puts pressure on kids to have sex. Which is kind of wrong....

A burning bush is a Christian symbol of virginity, which fits into what others have said so far, about this song being about sex, the losing of innocence/virginity, and sex destroying the romance/love in a relationship.
"I never gave my world away (maybe i should, maybe i could"
This to me is a reference to falling in love, and fully commiting yourself to one person in a relationship, and devoting your life to them. It's about being vulnerable with someone and open, and letting someone into your life. So in short, he's saying despite losing his virginity and experiencing sex, he has never experienced true love, but maybe he is ready to do so now, maybe he is able to give himself to another.

I agree that there are strong themes of sex running through this song. I get the idea that its about a relationship that failed due to a confusion between love and sex, and that he wants to move on and find a true relationship, but he knows he'll always be tainted by his previous one.I love the sound of this song, it's a new style for FFAF but it works. And that chorus keeps getting stuck in my head.
